How To Identify Drained Wetlands

The majority of wetlands across North America have been drained for agriculture and urban development. Published estimates for the destruction of wetlands by State and Province underestimate how many wetlands have been destroyed .

Tom has identified over 50-features on the landscape that indicate where wetlands have been filled and drained. You can learn to identify these signs with a little practice, and by reading the book he wrote Wetland Drainage, Restoration, and Repair and the FREE PDF “Signs of Drained Wetlands” (above).
